The Fat Farm ====================================================================== She sat outside in the sunshine on the uncomfortable chair outside the expensive cafe which had parted her from an obscene amount of her dwindling human currency. She was resplendent. Unable to be any other way. She wore white boots, large dark sunglasses and a white flowing dress that seemed to follow movement patterns in the light breeze pre-programmed to enhance her dramatic presence and general attractiveness. She was both utterly alien and devastatingly beautiful all at once. "Why are they all so fat? So ugly." she asked herself. Her eyes slowly moving from human to human as they passed her vantage point. It had been a very long time since she had experienced Earth Realm and much had changed. The humans were shadows, huge podgy meat bag shadows, of what they had been and what they could have been. It was revolting. She could barely stand them. Her lip curled as one particularly large lumbering sack of blood and shit limped close to her position. Repugnant. A figure emerged from the throng, approached and sat opposite her... a curt subtle bow before he did so. "Your Majesty" he said. She knew instantly he was Fae, his vibrations through the hive mind identified him from some distance and she had been tracking his progress as he moved toward her for some while. He was high born. Afraid. Brave. Loyal. He had been here a long time. She knew this with barely a glance. "This place is a fat farm and these creatures are nothing more than embarrassing livestock... this what they become without us is it? I fear we have let ourselves... and them down with our absence." "It would appear so Majesty" he offered diplomatically. She sipped her tea "Then it is a good job we have returned... and how fortunate they are that one such as me has now arrived to lead proceedings." "Then it is done Majesty?" He asked "The Emperor chooses you?" there was a hint of wince in his tone. Just a hint. She took another careful sip of her tea. He had not. "He will do." The high born nodded politely. "Do you have the weapon?" She placed the teacup carefully on the table. "The Raven retrieved it. I have it. It is here." She held out her hand. He reached into his bag and withdraw a short slender dagger, placing it carefully into her palm as if placing an armed grenade. She took it from him and with a flourish secreted it about her person "He is very good and finding our lost things." He nodded again, not wishing to be drawn into even thinking 'The Raven' without that creatures express permission... "What now?" he asked. "You go... back to the edges, wherever you came from... and I... I bring the next phase of this story to these pathetic worm people... we are Loa to these... herd animals, we are spirits, myths... legends... Gods. We will assume our rightful place in due course. We will take back what is rightfully ours..." "For the Emperor" he interjected. She smiled. Every human within a hundred feet saw and was momentarily enchanted. None of them ever forgot her face. It haunted dreams, provided fantasies, fueled hope... and sparked fears forever more. "Of course...." she said softly. "Then I leave you Lilith, my High Queen" He bowed from his seated position "All hail Eris" he stood, stepped into the foot traffic of humans and was gone. "All hail Lilith The Rebel" she whispered once he was safely out of earshot. ====================================================================== www.endless-chronicles.com ====================================================================== EOF
